”There is liberation in understanding that you’re meant to do incomplete work. You cannot do everything. The foundations you lay will be shaky and need development. The seeds you plant will need more water than you’re able to provide. Your accomplishments will be multiplied by others far after you are gone. And that’s exactly the way it’s meant to be.”
I read this after Donald Miller posted a link to his friend’s blog. Justin Zoradi, founder of These Numbers Have Faces, wrote as if this message was for me. (I’m sure he had me on the mind while writing it… :p )
Anyway, this is a concept I have had to struggle with. I have all of these grand dreams, visions, and/or callings and I just want to see them fulfilled. But the truth is, I may not see them completed. I may have just been meant to start them. Someone else is meant to finish them, and that may mean I don’t get whatever glory the world would give. SO WHAT. I mean, fame and glory sounds nice… but, eh, not really.
Later in this post, Zoradi mentions that the plans aren’t about us- but about God. Which is a great perspective to look at it from. The plans for me to go to Oregon or Africa aren’t primarily about ME. Luckily, I still get something beautiful out of it- after all God is all about making beautiful things out of the dust.
I need to keep myself in check constantly, and remind myself of this fact.
I may not see the outcome of my vision here on Earth, but that is because it isn’t MY vision.
And I’m okay with that.
In fact, I love that idea.
lol oh boy
